Kicktail Fishing Lure
Sunday, February 15th, 2009Kicktail Fishing Lure
Trying to keep abreast of any advances in the fishing lure world I happened upon the Kicktail fishing lure. The premise behind this lure is that it shakes it tail via a disjointed portion of the body. Kind of like a jointed lure on steroids. I have seen jointed fishing lures work wonders on the water, so this lure intrigues me.
If you read about this lure you see that it is supposed to most closely mimic the action of a swimming minnow. They come in different sizes and colors. If these lures do truly minic the action of a swimming shad they could be deadly in the right lakes.
They are a bit steep in terms of price, but with all the tackle that every fisherman hoards over the life time of this sport most (including me) are willing to try anything to put more fish in the boat. While most people hate gimmicky lures such as the "flying lure" of old, I have friends that do great on some of these lures. The flying lure was mostly panned by just about everyone, but I have a good friend that catches beyond his fair share of fish that used the lure to great success. I never got the hang of that particular lure, but he did pull in many nice bass with it. Therefore, I am more willing to by a wide array of lures and try them to see if they work the way I like to fish.
For this reason I will give the kicktail fishing lure a fair shake. I don't know that I expect the 3 to 1 ratio of fish caught that they advertise, but I guess I won't know until I try them on the water.
Have you tried the Kicktail? If so, any experiences you would like to pass on?
