Soft Plastic Baits

One might ask why choose soft plastic baits over the real thing? Good question. No one can argue that artificial bait will out fish live bait day after day. But fishing with plastic baits can be more challenging and rewarding. They will make you fish harder, think more, and allow you to become a better angler.

With more competition then ever, lure manufactures are perfecting soft plastics, scents, and the types of baits used. Berkely’s 10” Power Worm and Berkely’s 4”power worms have awesome scents on the plastics that mimic the real thing. Yamamoto Senkos have perfected the soft plastics that make up the baits. Zoom Brush Hogs are neat creature baits that are unsurpassed by others. The Zoom centipede is a do nothing finesse worm.

New baits enter the market every year. Some are improvements on scents, plastics, or bait shape. It is our job to figure out which ones are the greatest the market has to offer. Whatever the improvement, the real winner is us, the avid anglers whom prefer plastic lures.

Next time you are on the water, keep this in mind. Plastic baits can work just as well as live baits, so give them a try. One last thing, if you ever plan on fishing a bass tournament, live bait is typically not allowed.
