Introduction

I have an excellent question for you.

I see that your product is for saltwater fishing. Can it be used for freshwater fishing as well?

You can use this reel for freshwater fishing as well. You will need to clean the reel after each saltwater trip, and you'll also need to change your line if you plan on using it in both types of water. Although it's not required, we recommend you use a freshwater rod when fishing with the Oceanic Pro-Spool Saltwater Reel because its design is geared towards saltwater use and thus may not be suited for use with lighter rods, require more finesse.

Is this a spinning reel or a casting reel?

A spinning reel is used for bass fishing, while a casting reel is used for salmon fishing. This reel is a spinning reel.

Would this work for salmon fishing in Utah?

The reel is a lightweight model for finesse applications, like trout fishing. It's a good choice for smaller fish, but it won't have the power you need to handle larger species like salmon.

Additionally, this reel has a gear ratio too low for handling large fish. This means that when you're fighting a strong fish, it will slow down your retrieval speed and make it harder to bring in the catch. As far as drag systems go, this one isn't ideal for salmon fishing because it doesn't have enough stopping power to stop a large fish from pulling line from the spool as fast as possible which can cause damage or breakage if something goes wrong during the fight!

Saltwater reels can be used for freshwater fishing.

Saltwater reels are designed to be used in saltwater. They can be used in freshwater, but you may need to clean them more frequently and change the line or drag system.

  • The drag system on a saltwater reel is made of brass, which is corrosion-resistant. The drag system on a freshwater reel is made of stainless steel, which doesn't rust as quickly as brass but still needs to be maintained with regular cleaning and oiling.

  • If you're fishing in fresh water with your saltwater reel, it's likely that you'll want to replace the line since it will absorb moisture from the air and become tacky over time; this makes reeling in fish difficult once they've got a good hold on the line because they'll have less friction against their gills when taking off (and thus no reason not escape). This issue can be remedied by using braided lines for catching fish and monofilament for trolling--the latter being better suited for maintaining tension when casting out weights or bait rigs at different depths than their intended target depths so long as there aren't too many knots holding together multiple sections of different kinds of materials together (which would cause unnecessary friction).
