What colors do pike see best?
White, green/chartreuse, and orange are the three hues of lures that perform exceptionally well while fishing for murky water pike.
This article is based not only on my own personal experiences over the past more than 20 years, but also on a large poll in which 100 pike anglers were asked about their preferences regarding lure color and kind.
What color of lures work best for pike?
When fishing for pike in water that is clear, the most effective lures to use are swimbaits, softbaits, and crankbaits that have a genuine pattern and swim in a realistic manner.
The most successful lure colors have been found to be those that are natural and resemble the prey of the pike, such as white, silver, green, or black.
What month is best for pike?
Pike fishing is at its peak in the fall, when the water temperature is gradually falling and the fish are feeding and hunting in a manner that is both very energetic and aggressive.
To be more specific, September and October are by far the finest months to fish for pike because the weather is typically milder.
When should you not fish for pike?
Fishing in the late afternoon or at night should be avoided throughout the winter months, as these are the worst times to catch anything.
Because the pike appear to be completely dormant during such times, you will be wasting your time trying to catch them. Fatigue and motivation are two more important factors to consider.
First, consider the kind of fishing you plan to do.
You can use northern pike lures for fishing, including trolling and casting.
However, if you plan to fish in shallow waters, you'll want a lure with a short skirt length.
This will help it stay on the bottom of the lake or river as it drifts along with the current.
Next, think about your preferred method of fishing.
If you want to use a lure that floats at rest and sinks when pulled through the water, then a floating/sinking lure is what you need.
Choose an intermediate depth lure if you want a lure that sits on top of the water's surface but still sinks when pulled through it.
Finally, if you want a lure that sits at rest but floats when pulled through the water like an inline spinner or crank bait, then choose one of those options instead!
So if you're planning on using a lure with a bright blue, red, or orange color, go for a darker color instead.
